I have been toying with the idea of getting another Yorkie. I love my male Yorkie Max and think it would be fun for him to have a playmate his own size. I would get a female this time and maybe look at breeding them in the future. Max is AKC registered and I want the same for Maggie (yeah, I have already picked out her name).
So, I started looking on the internet for local breeders. This turned out to be harder than I thought it would be. First of all, there seem to be LOTS of scams on the internet saying they have adorable Yorkie pups. Most of these have turned out to be people claiming to have puppies and wanting you to send them money.
Next, I turned to AKC’s website. After a few hours of digging through countless websites, I found a small list of AKC Yorkie breeders in Central Florida. I managed to get a hold of one local breeder, who of course did not have any pups. She asked me lots of questions about what my intentions were going to be with the pup. I told her I was considering breeding but hadn’t made a firm decision yet. She suggested that I find the “best” female I can if I am looking to breed her and warned me that the price tag would most likely be $2000-2500. She also gave me the phone number of a breeder near Jacksonville that has pups.
All this got me thinking more about this breeding idea. So, I dug into more websites. What I found did not help with my decision, if anything, it made me more confused. The one thing I did decide was that if I do ever go forward with breeding Yorkies, I will be sure to put up a really nice INFORMATIVE website with good search tags so people looking for Yorkies in Central Florida will be able to find at least one website for Yorkies.

Turns out you already know a Yorkie breader.
